President's Message
Hi Everyone
We have a new Board and new Officers which were inducted at the March meeting. We had a very active meeting. The bylaws were reviewed and amended by the membership. The membership suggested some topics for future conferences.
We are now posting the minutes of the Annual and Board meetings on the website, so please go to the website and read them.
We have obtain Dr. Susan Melott for our CPHQ course which will be November 13 and 14th. The conference will be at ECRI. This conference is also for members who would like a refresher or are new to quality. We will contacting the hotels in that area to see if we can get a block of rooms at a reasonable price for people who will be coming in.
We are a sponsor for the Advancing Excellence in Nursing Homes conference which will be held at the New Courtland Educational Center on June 12th. SPAHQ members wll be given priorty registration, so get your registrations in as soon as possible. Seating is limited.
We will be planning a Spring conference for 2009.
Financially, the organization is strong and we are grateful to our program sponsors for their support of our programs which have helped cover the costs. They also enable us to bring in more promient speakers for the membership.
Lastly, I would encourage the membership to make use of our listserve to communicate with each other. We have a wealth of experence to share with each other. We are going into a new area of Patient Safety and we need to begin to talk to each other about some of the issues that are facing us. I know another concern for the hospitals is the RACs. Barabara Ambacher will be putting a group together to discuss this issue.
